“….I’m on the road again”
How y’all doin’?
Back off the jollies, rarin’ to go and hitting the ground running – that’s us!
First stop, Bedford Corn Exchange, a new one for us. An absolute corker of a gig to get our Autumn groove back on, look out for our return next year! Second up, the annual Silloth Beer Festival. Knowing that giving us pre-match beer would ruin our Zen-like focus, they provided us with a bright pink lap-dance bus, complete with pole instead! But alas, no ‘staff’ (ahem, cough, cough…!)…
We were jostled out of our original venue at Fairfield Halls into the cavernous main hall itself for our next bash, by none other than ’70’s afro-rockers OSIBISA. Despite Wayne’s twitterings of affinity for the music and echoes of the fatherland ( eh? He’s from BOLTON?!?) ringing in our ears, we still had a blast and fantastic gig there. We love the bigger stages because allow the show to open up more and Tim’s hair to swing more freely…then onto one of our all-time faves, the Wharf in Tavistock. Thanks to all for the usual rapturous welcome and mass-attendance and also our very best wishes to Steven Court who is in hospital at the moment. Steven Court is the former Pink Floyd sound engineer who now owns The Wharf in Tavistock, he also designed the world famous Court Acoustics sound systems. Get well soon, sir.
And the final leg…the Arts Centre in Helmsley, what a great venue! Shame we got stuck in mud on the way, luckily Greg and sound engineer Phil managed to quite literally ‘rock’ the van out of trouble – the show must go on dahhhlings…. Then we had a blockbusting seaside show at the Pavilion Theatre in Whitby, another first for us there and what a night that was – incredible audience support, bringing out the very best in us. Thanks to the travelling barmy army who came over from Teeside, Leeds, Bradford, Hull etc.
A welcome return to The Grand in Clitheroe was the final flourish, thoroughly enhanced by support from the excellent ‘Blackmamba‘. So good was this lineup, we’ve asked them to join us as special guests at 53 Degrees in Preston on the 1st December, so do come down and check them out!
Now the news…
We’ve added a couple of new shows to the November roster! Check it out – we have the Exchange Arts Centre in Keighley on Saturday 10th November. Its a new gig for us, so we are hoping this will replace the much loved Rios in Bradford as our new home in this part of Yorkshire. CLICK HERE FOR FULL INFO
Also, after a rousing return to the Leopard in Doncaster earlier this year (its under new management), we’ve put another date in on Friday 23rd November. CLICK HERE FOR FULL INFO
We are also returning to one of our old stomping grounds when we do our first show at the Rock Patch at the Cabbage Patch in Twickenham (if you’re a Rugby fan you’ll know it!). Any of you remember the early days over Chiswick, Brentford and Feltham? Well, we’ll see you all there for a catch up – also a nice local one for one of our most loyal supporters, Dave ‘Hardrock’ Harvey (who may have a beard now as winter is approaching).
